Yonsei University Museum
- The museum was opened in 1924 as the country’s first university museum. In 1988, the museum was relocated to the university’s Centennial Memorial Hall and equipped with nine exhibition rooms specializing in fine art, prehistory, history, royal palaces, school history, folklore, clay pots, wildlife, and geology; a special exhibition room; and an open-air exhibition space.
Since 1964, when a team of the museum’s researchers conducted excavations of historic sites dating from the Paleolithic Age in Seokjang-ri, Gongju, the museum has laid the groundwork for research on Paleolithic culture and opened a new page in the country’s archaeology and historiology. It is striving to develop relevant educational programs in addition to carrying out the inherent roles of a museum.
